Scripture (KJV)

Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Devotional
Many people are exhausted, not because they are working too hard, but because they are carrying burdens they were never designed to carry. God never intended for His children to live under the crushing weight of anxiety, fear, guilt, disappointment, or tomorrow’s uncertainties. Those burdens belong in His hands, not yours.
Balance is not found by doing less; it is found by trusting God more. When we insist on controlling every situation, solving every problem, and carrying every responsibility in our own strength, we become spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically weary. Yet God lovingly invites us to exchange our burdens for His sustaining grace.
Psalm 55:22 is more than a comforting verse—it is a divine invitation. The word cast means to throw or release completely. God is not asking you to hand Him part of your burden while you continue carrying the rest. He is asking for all of it. He desires to carry what is too heavy for you so that you can walk in the peace, joy, and balance He has prepared for your life.
Jesus demonstrated this perfect balance throughout His earthly ministry. Although multitudes surrounded Him and countless needs demanded His attention, He continually withdrew to spend time with His Father. He understood that His strength came from communion with God rather than constant activity. If the Son of God needed quiet moments with the Father, how much more do we?
Today, examine what you are carrying. Are you holding on to worry instead of worship? Fear instead of faith? Control instead of surrender? The burdens you refuse to release will eventually become the weights that rob you of your peace. God’s grace was never intended to help you carry your burdens—it was given to remind you that He carries them for you.
True balance begins the moment you surrender what belongs to God and faithfully steward what He has entrusted to you. When God carries the weight, you are free to walk in purpose instead of pressure, peace instead of panic, and faith instead of fear.
Prayer
Father, I thank You because I know You hear me. Let Your will be done. Today I cast every burden, every worry, every fear, and every anxious thought upon You. Forgive me for trying to carry what You never intended me to bear. Teach me to trust You completely and to rest in Your unfailing care. Fill my heart with Your peace, strengthen me by Your Spirit, and help me to walk in balance as I keep my eyes fixed upon You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
I choose to cast every burden upon the Lord. I will not be overwhelmed by the cares of this life. God is my Sustainer, my Strength, and my Refuge. I walk in His peace, His wisdom, and His balance. I release control and embrace complete trust in my Heavenly Father. I will not be moved because the Lord upholds me by His mighty hand.
Dr. Althea’s Challenging Thought
“The greatest burden you will ever lay down is the one you were never meant to carry. Trust God with what is beyond your strength, and you will discover the balance that only His presence can provide.”
