“When you come through the storm, you will not be the same person who entered it. What was sent to break you, God used to build you; what was meant to weaken you, God used to strengthen you; and what threatened to destroy you became the very testimony of His keeping power.” Dr. Althea
Scripture Foundation — Isaiah 43:2 (KJV)
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
The Storm Did Not Come to Stay
There are seasons in life when the winds of adversity blow so fiercely that everything around you seems uncertain. Your faith is challenged, your strength is tested, and your peace is threatened. Yet, even in the fiercest storm, God remains faithful.
The storm may have shaken your confidence, interrupted your plans, challenged your relationships, or brought you to tears. But one thing remains certain: The God who was with you before the storm is the same God who will bring you through it.
Notice that Isaiah 43:2 does not say you will never encounter deep waters or walk through fire. Instead, God promises His presence in the midst of them. His assurance is not the absence of adversity but His sustaining power through it.
Sometimes, God allows the storm to reveal what peaceful seasons could never teach you. You discover strength you did not know you possessed, faith you had never exercised, and a deeper dependence upon Him.
What once caused you to tremble becomes the testimony that encourages someone else to keep standing.
You Are Coming Through, Not Staying There
The storm is a season, not your permanent residence. You may have entered it feeling overwhelmed, disappointed, rejected, or uncertain, but you do not have to emerge carrying the same fear, bitterness, or limitations.
God can use what you endured to deepen your wisdom, refine your character, strengthen your discernment, and prepare you for greater responsibility.
Remember, the disciples experienced a storm while Jesus was in the ship. His presence did not prevent the storm, but His authority was greater than the winds and waves.
Mark 4:39 (KJV) declares:
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
The same Lord who commanded peace upon the sea is able to establish peace within your heart.
Do not allow the intensity of your storm to make you question the faithfulness of your God.
Your Survival Has a Purpose
When you come through the storm, do not merely celebrate that you survived. Recognize what God developed within you during the journey.
You have gained wisdom through adversity, patience through waiting, strength through endurance, and spiritual maturity through trusting God when you could not understand His process.
Your scars do not have to become symbols of defeat. They can become reminders of the grace that sustained you.
And perhaps the greatest revelation is this: You did not come through the storm simply to return to who you were. You came through with an opportunity to become who God is developing you to be.
Final Encouragement
Do not despise the storms you have survived. Do not surrender your future to the pain of your past. God is still writing your story, and the storm does not have the authority to determine its ending.
You may have entered the storm crying, but you can come through rejoicing. You may have entered uncertain, but you can emerge with greater faith. You may have entered feeling broken, but through God’s restoring grace, you can become whole.
The storm was a chapter in your journey, not the conclusion of your destiny.
Declaration of Faith
I declare that the storms of life will not destroy my faith, silence my voice, or cancel my God-given purpose. I will emerge stronger, wiser, more discerning, and more firmly established in the Lord. What I have endured will become a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. I am coming through, and I will give God the glory!
Psalm 34:19 (KJV)
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”
— Prophetess Dr. Althea Winifred
