A SHAPER FOR THE LORD

Shaped by God to Shape Lives, Influence Generations, and Advance His Kingdom

“You cannot become a shaper for the Lord until you allow the Lord to shape you. God develops your character before expanding your influence, transforms your thinking before enlarging your assignment, and establishes your identity before entrusting you with Kingdom authority.”

Key Scripture: Romans 12:2 (KJV)

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

ARE YOU WILLING TO BE SHAPED BEFORE YOU BECOME A SHAPER?

Everyone desires to make an impact, but not everyone is willing to undergo the process required to become impactful. We want to influence nations, transform communities, establish ministries, develop leaders, and fulfill extraordinary assignments. Yet before God uses us to shape the lives of others, He must first shape what is within us.

Being a shaper for the Lord is not about occupying an influential position, acquiring impressive titles, gaining public recognition, or building an extensive platform. It is about becoming a surrendered vessel through whom God can accomplish His divine purpose.

The greatest challenge is not discovering whether God can use you. The challenge is determining whether you are willing to surrender to the process through which He prepares you.

God is not simply interested in what you accomplish. He is concerned about who you become while accomplishing it.

A person may possess extraordinary gifts while struggling with undeveloped character. Someone may demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities while carrying unresolved emotional wounds. A person may possess extensive biblical knowledge yet struggle to demonstrate compassion, humility, forgiveness, or spiritual maturity.

This is why becoming a shaper begins with allowing God to transform the person behind the assignment.

You cannot effectively shape what God has entrusted to you while continually resisting the transformation He desires to accomplish within you.

THE POTTER MUST SHAPE THE CLAY

Jeremiah 18:6 (KJV) declares:

“O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.”

Imagine clay attempting to instruct the potter concerning its shape, purpose, appearance, and destination. The clay cannot fully understand what the potter envisions because the completed vessel exists first in the potter’s imagination.

Similarly, we often approach God with predetermined expectations about what our lives should look like. We present Him with our schedules, ambitions, preferences, relationships, and carefully constructed plans. We want Him to bless what we have designed rather than surrendering ourselves to what He has ordained.

But the Potter sees beyond our present condition.

He sees possibilities we have not discovered, weaknesses that require strengthening, attitudes that need correction, and gifts that have not yet been developed.

Sometimes His shaping process involves removing what we have become comfortable carrying. Sometimes it requires changing our environment, challenging our thinking, confronting unhealthy patterns, or teaching us to remain faithful when nobody recognizes our efforts.

The process may be uncomfortable, but discomfort does not automatically mean something is wrong.

However, we must also remember that not every painful experience is sent by God. We should never confuse abuse, manipulation, or destructive relationships with divine preparation. God’s shaping work is consistent with His character and His Word.

When we surrender ourselves to His transforming work, He develops the spiritual maturity necessary for us to serve others responsibly.

The Potter is not destroying your purpose through His shaping process. He is preparing you to fulfill it.

YOUR MIND MUST BE TRANSFORMED BEFORE YOUR INFLUENCE EXPANDS

Romans 12:2 teaches that transformation requires the renewing of our minds.

This is particularly important because we cannot consistently demonstrate Kingdom principles while allowing worldly values to determine our thinking.

The world frequently measures success through popularity, possessions, power, financial achievement, recognition, and social influence. However, Kingdom influence is grounded in obedience, righteousness, humility, service, integrity, love, and faithfulness.

A Kingdom shaper must learn to think differently.

You cannot develop spiritually healthy people while consistently promoting unhealthy patterns. You cannot teach forgiveness while continually nurturing bitterness. You cannot encourage others to pursue their divine purpose while allowing comparison and jealousy to dominate your own thinking.

Transformation requires more than changing outward behavior. It requires allowing the Word of God to challenge the beliefs, assumptions, motivations, and attitudes that influence our decisions.

Philippians 2:5 (KJV) declares:

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

Our thinking must increasingly reflect the character of Christ.

Before asking God to increase your influence, invite Him to examine the thinking that will govern that influence.

A renewed mind produces a different response to difficulties, relationships, responsibilities, leadership, and opportunities.

When God changes how you think, He begins changing how you live. As your life changes, your influence can become an instrument of transformation in the lives of others.

A SHAPER DOES NOT SIMPLY OCCUPY SPACE; A SHAPER MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Jesus demonstrated that spiritual influence is not determined by the size of an audience.

He ministered to multitudes, but He also stopped for individuals. He taught crowds while investing personally in His disciples. He demonstrated compassion toward people whom society frequently overlooked.

His ministry reminds us that influence should never become more important than the people we are called to serve.

Matthew 5:16 (KJV) declares:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

A genuine Kingdom shaper directs attention toward God rather than continually seeking recognition.

Your influence may begin within your family, workplace, congregation, business, educational institution, or community. You may be called to mentor someone, encourage a struggling leader, develop a ministry, support a grieving family, establish an organization, or create opportunities for others.

Never underestimate the significance of the environment in which God has positioned you.

You do not need an international platform to begin making a Kingdom impact. You need a surrendered heart and a willingness to serve faithfully wherever God has assigned you.

The person you encourage today may eventually influence thousands. The leader you mentor may develop future generations. The kindness you demonstrate may restore someone’s confidence in a season when they were considering giving up.

Kingdom influence often begins through seemingly ordinary acts of obedience.

Do not become so consumed with influencing the world that you neglect the people God has already placed within your reach.

SHAPERS MUST ALSO BECOME SHAKERS AND MOVERS

There is a difference between possessing a vision and taking responsibility for bringing that vision into action.

A shaper allows God to develop the character, wisdom, and capacity necessary to influence others. A shaker challenges patterns that resist biblical truth and constructive transformation. A mover demonstrates the courage, discipline, and obedience required to turn God-given vision into meaningful action.

These qualities must operate together.

We need Kingdom leaders who do more than discuss transformation. We need people willing to demonstrate it.

We need individuals who recognize injustice and respond with righteousness, who identify suffering and demonstrate compassion, who encounter division and work toward reconciliation, and who discover opportunities to serve and accept responsibility.

James 2:17 (KJV) declares:

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

Faith must produce meaningful action.

However, being a shaker does not mean creating unnecessary conflict, and being a mover does not mean operating without wisdom or spiritual direction.

Kingdom transformation should reflect the character and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Your assignment is not to disturb everything around you simply to demonstrate that you possess influence. Your assignment is to discern where God has called you to serve and faithfully participate in the work He has entrusted to you.

Sometimes shaping requires speaking. Sometimes it requires listening. Sometimes it involves leading, while at other times it involves supporting someone else’s leadership.

The effectiveness of your assignment depends upon obedience rather than visibility.

YOUR CONSISTENCY WILL HELP DETERMINE YOUR CAPACITY

One of the greatest challenges facing individuals who desire to make a difference is maintaining consistency after the initial excitement disappears.

Many people enthusiastically embrace a vision but struggle with the discipline required to develop it.

They begin projects but fail to complete them. They accept responsibilities but become distracted. They pray for opportunities without adequately preparing themselves to manage those opportunities.

Yet lasting Kingdom influence requires faithfulness.

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) reminds us:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

God may have entrusted you with an assignment that appears insignificant compared with what you believe He has revealed about your future.

Remain faithful.

Your present responsibilities may be developing the wisdom, patience, endurance, and organizational discipline that your future responsibilities will demand.

Do not become so anxious about your destination that you neglect your present assignment.

The ability to influence others responsibly is strengthened through consistent obedience, accountability, and faithful stewardship.

Remember that consistency does not mean exhausting yourself or refusing necessary rest. Jesus demonstrated the importance of withdrawing for prayer and spiritual renewal.

Effective Kingdom service requires both commitment and dependence upon God.

THE GREATEST SHAPERS DEVELOP OTHER SHAPERS

Your Kingdom assignment should never be limited to what you personally accomplish.

Consider the people who will continue the work after your season of direct leadership has ended.

Who are you developing?

Whose gifts are you helping to discover?

Whose confidence are you strengthening?

Whose spiritual growth are you intentionally supporting?

Second Timothy 2:2 (KJV) declares:

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

This Scripture reveals the importance of developing people who can continue teaching and serving others.

Effective Kingdom leadership multiplies influence through intentional development.

A shaper should not create dependence upon their personality, position, or presence. Instead, they should encourage others to develop spiritual maturity, biblical understanding, responsible decision-making, and confidence in their God-given assignments.

The objective is not to produce individuals who imitate everything you do. It is to help them become everything God has called them to be.

When you invest in developing others, your influence can extend beyond your immediate responsibilities and your lifetime.

Your legacy is not simply what you leave behind.

It includes what you establish within the lives of others.

ARE YOU READY TO BECOME A SHAPER FOR THE LORD?

Becoming a shaper requires a personal decision to surrender continually to God’s transforming work.

It requires allowing Him to confront attitudes that restrict your growth, correct priorities that compete with your calling, and develop the discipline necessary to fulfill your responsibilities.

It also requires the humility to recognize that spiritual development is an ongoing journey.

No matter how many years you have served, how many qualifications you possess, how many people you have influenced, or how extensive your ministry has become, there is always room for continued growth.

God is still shaping you.

And as you surrender to Him, your life can become an instrument through which others encounter His love, experience encouragement, discover their purpose, and grow in their relationship with Him.

Your assignment is greater than acquiring a title. Your calling reaches beyond occupying a position. Your influence should extend beyond personal recognition.

You have been called to glorify God through the life you live and the people you serve.

Before you attempt to shape a generation, allow God to shape the person who will influence that generation.

PRAYER

Father, I thank You because I know You hear me. Let Your will be done.

Father, shape me according to Your divine purpose. Transform my thinking, purify my motives, strengthen my character, and establish my identity in Christ. Remove every attitude, habit, distraction, and unhealthy pattern that hinders my spiritual development.

Give me wisdom to recognize my assignment, courage to fulfill it, humility to remain teachable, and discipline to remain consistent. Teach me to influence others without seeking personal recognition and to lead without losing compassion.

Father, make me a vessel through whom Your love, truth, wisdom, and righteousness can influence families, communities, ministries, and generations.

May the people I encounter become stronger because I have faithfully demonstrated Your character. Help me develop others who will continue serving You long after my present assignment has been completed.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DECLARATION

I DECLARE THAT I AM A SHAPER FOR THE LORD.

I surrender myself to God’s transforming work. My mind is being renewed through His Word, my character is being developed through obedience, and my influence will be governed by biblical principles.

I will not merely occupy a position; I will faithfully fulfill my assignment. I will encourage others, develop leaders, strengthen communities, and use every opportunity entrusted to me to glorify God.

I am being shaped by God to serve His purpose.

DR. ALTHEA’S CHALLENGING THOUGHT

“You cannot shape tomorrow’s generation while refusing to allow God to transform who you are today. The greatest evidence of your Kingdom influence is not how many people follow you, but how many lives are strengthened, transformed, and equipped to fulfill their God-given purpose.”
