The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. The word “slack” means dull, easy, lax, laggard, passive, relaxed, slow, sluggish and weak. So the Lord is not dull, easy, lax, laggard, passive, relaxed, slow, sluggish or weak concerning His promise.
When God makes a promise – it is a promise that will not or cannot be broken, over looked or is conditional. A promise is a promise!
There are 111 times the word promise appears in the KJV of the Bible. Here is one of my favorite scriptures Deuteronomy 1:11 “The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!”
I firmly believe in multiplication blessing what has the thousand times more miracles than I can even think about. So having the promise of God is like have multiplication blessing it is continuous and there is no slacking in His promise.
What is a promise? The dictionary states: 1). a declaration that something will or will not be done, given, etc., by one: 2). an express assurance on which expectation is to be based: 3). something that has the effect of an express assurance; indication of what may be expected. 4). indication of future excellence or achievement: 5). something that is promised. We serve God the creator of Heaven and Earth who is not slack concerning His promises.
Did you know there are over 8,000 in the Word of the Lord?
Here are five promises from the Word of God:
1). Exodus 14:14 ~ The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.
2). Isaiah 40:29 ~ He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
3). Isaiah 40:31 ~ But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
4). Isaiah 41:10 ~ So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
5). Isaiah 41:13 ~ For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
His promises are loaded benefits daily according to Psalms 68:19 ~ Blessed be the Lord, who daily loaders is with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
Another thing about the promise(s) of God they are not conditional but binding. His promise is done because of His love, grace and mercy. God is bound by His word. What His word says whether written or spoke is what God is bound by and so is His promise.
